May 3, 2007:  Forget what you’ve heard about English cooking. The most popular dish in England is the Chicken Tikka Masala, and it’s better here than in most other places in the world. You soon learn to ask for “lager”, “bitter”, “stout” or “ale”, since asking for “beer” usually doesn’t work well. Total strangers will call you “darling”, but they won’t let you eat with your fingers.
